New version of the "legend" - Aqualung Legend Lux Supreme

A limited version of the top of the range scuba diver from the well known Aqualung company has appeared on the market. It is a refreshed and modernised version of the Legend model. The new version of this regulator is available in a very nice copper colour (for the lovers of chrome, the version is Legend LX, without the copper inserts) along with a bag, intended for its storage and transport.

The first stage of Lux Supreme is, as the manufacturer assures, “a breath of the future”, combining innovative solutions and technologies and unusual, futuristic design. The most important thing, however, is the fact that apart from its appearance, it is still a proven and reliable regulator that will ensure stress-free diving in any, even the most demanding conditions.

What immediately draws your attention (apart from the appearance) is the weight and size. New Legend has been slimmed down by about 100g, and it’s steps have been reduced by a few cm. Undoubtedly, it should be regarded as a plus. The MBS – Master Breathing System, which is supposed to be a new, simple and, above all, effective way of adjusting the breathing performance, also looks interesting. MBS is responsible for controlling two things: air direction (changing the Venturi effect), as well as the effort needed to take it in.

The Supreme version is designed for water temperatures below 10°C. According to the manufacturer, the 1st stage dry chamber and 2nd stage heat exchanger, which all new Aqualunga automats are equipped with, provide excellent protection against icing. Looking at how previous products of this brand have performed, we are inclined to take their word for it. The Level II mouthpiece also has a lip guard to protect your lips from the cold.

The 1st Stage already has 2 HP and 4 LP (MP) ports as standard, which gives us great freedom in creating a hardware configuration that meets our expectations. We are also dealing here with another patented technology – ACD – Auto Closure Device, responsible for self-sealing of the automaton. At great depths, a specially designed membrane is supposed to adjust the operation of the automat and its output to our needs in the best possible way.

The new Legend Lux Supreme is a very interesting item for recreational and technical divers who value reliability, technological innovations and comfort of use. Unfortunately, as usual, when something seems to be a sensational bargain, there must be a “but”. In this case, it is the price – 3250 PLN, which you have to reckon with if you want to become an owner of this gem. Is it worth it? You have to answer this question yourselves.
