Recently, we informed our readers about another interesting initiative where one could combine business with pleasure. Members of the Płetwal diving club from Giżycko decided to put their plan to clean up a part of Mikołajskie Lake into practice. To this end, they organised a joint dive in true “Santa Claus” style.

It is time for a brief summary.

In this year’s edition of the Mikołajskie Lake cleanup – “Mikołajki in Mikołajki 2013″, 20 divers took part. As the motto was 100 bags, 100 divers, 100 minutes we had to get down to work. It’s easy to count: the plan had to be fulfilled, so each diver had to do 500% of the standards… and we did it!( and Xawery was eating out of our hands:-))

We filled two large containers with rubbish lying at the bottom of the lake. Bottles reigned supreme among the rubbish thrown thoughtlessly into the lake. There were also rubbish bins, road signs, urinals…

The safety of divers was supervised by Mikołaj, specially delegated by the organiser of the event – Płetwal diving club from Giżycko: OSP Wydminy, OSP Miłki, OSP Giżycko and the Mazurian Voluntary Rescue Service.

After the action all participants received commemorative T-shirts designed by a reliable friend of the club and all divers in the world Jerzy “Pele” Pilecki, commemorative diplomas and a warm meal sponsored by UMiG Mikołajki.

Many thanks to all the participants!
