Guillaume Nery: Trailer of the film Narcose

Today we publish a teaser of the new, extremely interestingly promising film “Narcose”. The main character of the production is Guillaume Nery, a Frenchman known for his love of free fall competition. As he says, he loves freefall because his greatest fascination is flying and the feeling of complete freedom that accompanies it. The new film featuring the freediver is a production written and directed jointly with Julie Gautier.

Starting in 2002, Nery set new world records in two-year intervals with the precision of a Swiss watch. With a result of 87m, he became the deepest freediver in the CWT competition for the first time. In 2004 he improved this result by 9m and reached the depth of 96m, in turn, in 2006 in Nice, he exceeded the limit of 100m and reached the world record diving to the depth of 109m.

The film “Narcose” tells the story of Guillaume Nery’s inner journey and the feelings that accompany him as he conquers new dimensions of depth. This short film is inspired by Guillaume’s experiences and depicts his hallucinations. Freediving induces a kind of narcosis in practitioners of this discipline, for which symptoms such as a state of euphoria and lightness are symptomatic, and which has thus earned the term “ecstasy of the deep.”

By mixing reality with visions of the imagination, the film shows the boundless possibilities of the human body and reveals the natural and intimate bonds between the athlete and the aquatic environment in which he moves. It also takes man’s relationship with the underwater world to a whole new level.

The idea of making a film containing the personal experiences of the French freediver came from Julie Gautier, his beloved. As she claims, she has always known the Frenchman’s attitude to diving and freediving. She thought she knew everything about her fiancé. However, a few years ago, Nery started talking about his underwater hallucinations and began his most intimate confession, which no one had heard before. This is how Narcose was born in Julie’s mind.
