Acceptance of nominations for the DAN/Rolex Diver of the Year Award has begun

Nominations for this prestigious award will be open until 15 January 2012. For the past 24 years, DAN and Rolex have annually honoured an individual who has made a significant contribution to improving the safety of recreational divers or promoting the ideals of DAN.

Both global and local activities are taken into account. Although many previous winners have been professional divers, divers of all levels and non-divers can also be nominated. It is not the range of activities or diving qualifications held by the nominee that is important, but the impact of their work that is the reason for the nomination.

“It has come to a time in the year that brings us much satisfaction. Just seeing the nominations is very inspiring. It is a testament to the achievements of people who have worked hard supporting DAN, or making diving safer,” said DAN President Dan Orr.

The winner of the annual DAN/Rolex poll will receive a unique Rolex Submariner watch with an engraved dedication and commemorative plaque. The award ceremony will take place in March 2012.
