The long-awaited 7th edition of the Baltictech 2015 conference is now history. After the previous edition, which was a debut in the newly opened Pomeranian Science and Technology Park in Gdynia, the expectations towards the organisers were huge. All thanks to the huge success of Baltictech 2013, which showed diving Europe who leads the way and sets the level in our region.

Did the Baltictech team carry the weight of their past achievements? The bar was set very high, but one can see that the experience and harmony of the organisers once again translated into the final result.

According to preliminary estimates, the attendance improved by about 150-200 people compared to the previous edition and amounted to over 600 guests who crossed the threshold of the Pomeranian Science and Technology Park during two days. As you can see, the interest was enormous and it was impossible not to notice the crowds pouring through the corridors of the building hosting the conference.

It is difficult to discuss whether the level of content met the expectations of the visitors. This is such a subjective issue that we will not attempt to resolve it. What is certain is that among the gathered speakers, we had people representing the highest level, from whom everyone could learn something new and thus gain as a diver.

Both wreck and cave enthusiasts should feel most satisfied. It is around this subject that most of the lectures focused. From the legendary wreck of the Antikythera, through the wrecks of Great Britain and Ireland, vessels resting at the bottom of the Great Lakes in the USA, as well as remnants of World War II around Malta, to the methods of searching for them, all presented by the greatest authorities in this matter, and this is still only a part of the topics discussed.

An equally wide range of issues concerned diving in the overhead environment. The assembled guests could learn about the secrets of diving in the Podgórze Uranium Mine, the results of cave explorations in the Balkans led by Dominik “Honzo” Graczyk, and what Swedish mines hide, which Rickard Lundberg talked about.

As usual, there was no lack of topics related to diving medicine, accidents or closed circuit diving. Many specialist panels and workshops certainly complemented the offer for the many demanding heads that turned up this weekend in Gdynia.

else{ ugCheckForErrors(“unitegallery_10_1”, “jquery”);}
};

.

It is impossible not to mention the trade fair part of Baltictech. As usual, there were leading companies dealing with the production and distribution of diving equipment, as well as trips and training. Between lectures, everyone could take a look at the rich offer of the exhibitors and get answers to their questions. There was no shortage of surprises, but we will return to them in specially prepared for this occasion materials. Some of them can certainly aspire to the so-called ‘game changer’, which will leave a permanent mark on the entire diving environment and diving as such!

The drawing of valuable prizes provided a lot of excitement. As usual, almost everyone was drawn to the main hall to see who would be the lucky winner that evening. Two Suex Xjoy7 scooters were the main object of desire. However, thanks to a very nice gesture by Alessandro Fenu, representing Suex at Baltictech… they multiplied to three during the draw! So no one had the right to complain, and a few lucky winners from the excess of luck, could have problems with falling asleep.

For Divers 24 Baltictech 2015 was a unique and unprecedented event. It was 5 years ago, on the opening day of the 4th edition of Baltictech, that we opened the portal to the general public. So we celebrated a kind of round anniversary of our activity.

It was also the first time we had such a big line-up. Apart from Marcin and Asia, whom you might have met over the last 1.5 years as they were at most of the events in Poland, Germany or Slovakia, there was also the man writing these words and two faces which appeared for the first time as a part of D24 team – Wojciech Zgola and Jacek “YaCa” Majek.

For us, Baltictech 2015 was another successful event where we were able to experience all that is best in diving beyond the diving itself. We extend our warmest greetings to everyone with whom we were able to meet and exchange a few sentences. Let’s not forget that it is the people who give climate to such events, and in Gdynia we can safely say that the atmosphere was excellent!

We congratulate the organisers, as they have once again raised the bar and put themselves in an extremely difficult position ahead of the next 8th edition of Baltictech, which will take place in 2017. Of course, we will not be missing there. But before that happens, we will see you soon, because the season of diving events, although it was inaugurated from high C, it has only just begun !

Opinions of visitors to Baltictech 2015

[blockquote style=”1″]Baltictech 2015 is a well organised diving event. Dedicated mainly to divers who love wrecks and caves and the associated equipment needed. Recreational divers will also find something for themselves, because both the plus and unfortunately the minus of this kind of meetings is the fact that several lectures are held simultaneously. [blockquote style=”1″]A very nice event and let’s hope for more such events. Lectures were given by professionals who were very interesting to listen to, they shared their experience. Stands were very diverse – you could learn a lot about news from the world of diving. Definitely see you in two years, at the next conference. [/blockquote]

-Joanna

[blockquote style=”1″]As a participant and exhibitor I can only say that Baltictech is a must for every technical diver. Interesting and specific lectures as well as the most important manufacturers make Baltictech the best event of its kind organised in Poland. [/blockquote].
