Techmeeting 2015 conference – 30 days to go

The 17th edition (3rd – international) of the Techmeeting technical divers’ conference will be held in Bratislava, the capital of Slovakia, from 6-8 February 2015. Although the calendar for February in terms of diving events is filled to the limit, looking at what the organisers of the Slovak event have prepared, it is worth driving a few extra kilometres.

The scope of the conference includes such topics as: cave diving, CCR/SCR circuits, wreck diving, decompression theory, history of diving, diving legends, diving accidents, sidemount, diving equipment, professional diving, diving medicine and rescue service, freediving, recreational diving, photo&video. All lectures will be simultaneously translated into Polish!

Among the invited guests we will find such names as: Herbert Nitsch – legend of freediving and multi-champion in several categories of free diving, Andrew Georgitis – world-renowned diver and supporter of Hogarthian/DIR/GUE/UTD standards (co-founder of the latter), Michael Waldbrenner – author of the longest cave exploration (Doux de Coly 5880m), Bret B. Hemphill – legend of cave diving from the USA, Steve Lichtag – film producer and director, e.g. “Shark 3D Odyssey”. “The list of people who have taken part in the expedition includes: Vic Verlinden – professional underwater photographer, specialising in photographing deep wrecks, David Skoumal – medical doctor and diving instructor, associated with technical diving in the Czech Republic since its inception, Arne Sieber – professor from the University of Graz in Austria, specialising in biomedical engineering, Frantisek Novomesku – professor specialising in hyperbaric medicine, Ondrej Franek – doctor in the air ambulance service, Ladislav Barath – ENT specialist with 20 years of experience and many others.

Among the invited speakers there was also room for three guests from Poland. We are talking about Krzysztof Starnawski – a cave diver, known for his exploration of Mexican cenotes, as well as the nearby Hranice Propast. The second guest is Sebastian Popek, a technical diving instructor, wreck diving specialist and participant in many interesting wreck expeditions. The group of Poles closes with Andrzej Kruczkowski – technical diver and member of Nuno Gomes’ diving team during setting the depth record in 2005.

There are 30 days left to the conference and there are very few tickets left. Beautiful Bratislava will soon turn into a real Mecca for technical divers and people who are heading towards technical diving. If you are in this group, you cannot miss it! More information can be found on here.
