Photography equipment manufacturer SeaLife has unveiled its new ultra-wide angle dome lens.
Underwater photography equipment manufacturer SeaLife has unveiled a new ultra-wide-angle dome lens. It is dedicated to Micro and ReefMaster series underwater cameras. The lens increases the camera’s field of view by almost 50% and allows photographers to zoom in on their subject three times.
SeaLife has used high-quality glass optical elements in the design of the new wide-angle dome lens. The creators have arranged them in a 4-element 4-group arrangement that provides edge-to-edge sharpness.
All optical elements are fully multi-coated to prevent internal reflections and maximise light transmission. The lens has an effective focal length of 13.3mm, which is equivalent to film when used with Micro 3.0 model.
The lens fits all Micro series cameras(Micro HD, HD+, Micro 2.0, Micro 3.0). It also works with the SeaLife ReefMaster RM-4K and increases the camera’s shooting angle up to 196°. The new SeaLife lens is easy to attach and detach underwater. And a locking ring prevents the lens from being accidentally detached, e.g. in the event of an impact.
The SeaLife Dome Lens used weighs 331g and has negative buoyancy. The kit also includes a lanyard to prevent the lens from being lost underwater.
The manufacturer has filled the inner space of the lens with nitrogen to prevent fogging when operating in extreme temperatures. A rotating diffuser prevents unwanted glare from external lighting or sunlight. In addition, it protects the dome lens from impacts and abrasions.
More information can be found on the manufacturer’s website.
