On Saturday, 23 April, the first edition of the “Clean up the world” series planned by the city authorities of Gdańsk will take place. Until now, the activities centred around this idea had the dimension of a one-off event. This year, however, the organisers have decided to transform it into a whole series of different actions. In this way, they plan to integrate the inhabitants, as well as various groups and entities around the idea of the Clean City.

The goals will also be different and each edition will focus on a different place. The “water” edition planned for 23 April will deal with cleaning, among others, at six retention reservoirs in the south of Gdańsk, at the New Motława and in the Marina at Żabi Kruk Street.

A total of four editions of the “Clean up the world” series have been planned by the organisers for 2022 . They will be held successively on 23 April, 21 May and throughout the month of June. In turn, an edition involving students of Gdansk schools has been planned for September.

During the first spring event, we will focus on water pollution by solid waste. All those willing will go on the water (canoes – free rental), on the water (banks of reservoirs) and under the water (New Motława). Of course, the latter will involve volunteer divers with certificates, appropriate skills and equipment we read on the official website of the event.

As a portal which was created and has its editorial office in Gdańsk, we could not fail to join the whole action. That is why we took the event under our patronage and will actively support actions aimed at improving the condition of local water bodies.

More details about all editions and the possibility to register can be found on the official website of the event.

About author

Julia
My love for scuba diving started as a 12-year-old in the Canary Islands, at which time I took my first Open Water Diver course. This love for the blue turned into a huge passion that accompanies me to this day. Although blue is hard to come by in the Baltic, no conditions are terrible for me. In this sport, I find peace, patience, courage, focus, and balance. I have recently started to engage in underwater modeling and I am fulfilled with this.
