In the diving community, equipment branded with the distinctive “S” logo is very popular and stands for a certain quality. Scubapro regulators, wetsuits, dive computers and many more are just some of the reasons. Successful fin models have certainly helped to create this reputation over the past decades. The Jet Fins, iconic in the technical diving community, distinctive Twin Jets or futuristic Scubapro Seawing Nova, are fins that have a huge fan base.
That’s why the launch of a new line of fins deserves some attention. Especially since we are dealing with as many as three new models. This strongly suggests that the manufacturer is aiming to meet the needs of the diving community by recognizing the needs of particular groups, instead of looking to create a fin that is universal for every type of diving.
This has resulted in the addition of the Go Fin, Go Sport Gorilla and S-Tek models to Scubapro’s range. Based on the information provided by the manufacturer, I’ll try to give a little insight into each of them below. I hope this will make it easier for you to fit the best one for you.
Go Travel Fin is the great solution for all recreational divers who like to travel and have to watch the weight of their luggage. A pair of XS/S size fins weighs only 1 kg and M/L only 1,2 kg, which is quite an impressive result considering their extraordinary resistance and durability (100 percent Monprene® construction). The fin is very comfortable and combines the benefits of an open-heel fin with the comfort and freedom of barefoot diving. A replaceable, self-adjusting heel strap allows for a more versatile adjustment and completes the package. This model is available in five sizes and four new colors – blue, yellow, pink and turquoise, which will surely allow everyone to find the perfect match.
Available in classic scuba diving colors black and orange. Although at first glance they are very similar to the Go Fin model, the Go Sport Gorilla offers a stiffer fin blade made of higher quality Monprene and heavy-duty bungee. This converts into extra power, which more experienced divers who often have to deal with challenging conditions will definitely appreciate.
The new line of fins is completed by the S-Tek Fin model. It is a two-piece fin created on the basis of the solution known from the Scubapro Seawing Supernova model. It is equipment dedicated for technical divers and all those who expect maximum efficiency and lots of power during their dives. As the producer assures, this is a new generation technical fin. An interesting solution is that the user by himself can define what the buoyancy of the fin is to be (positively, negatively or neutrally) by adding or removing dedicated stainless steel weights.
Scubapro is an iconic brand of diving equipment known worldwide. It was founded in 1963 by Gustavo Dalla Valle and Dick Bonin and to this day sets high standards in the diving industry in terms of innovation, performance, reliability and durability.
