Since then she has logged over 70 dives in her logbook. Over the next 16 months she underwent her first dive test in frigid Scotland, where the air temperature hovered around -4ºC, and in Cyprus, where the weather conditions were harsh and the accompanying electrical discharges were very dangerous.

Coming from a diving family, Charlotte’s passion for the deep was instilled in her by her parents, especially her mother, who was a positive influence on her daughter and helped her overcome her fear of diving. The girl followed the example of her 26-year-old brother, who also achieved his Junior Master Scuba Diver degree at the age of 14.

Charlotte Burns recently returned from picturesque Larnaca, a city on the south east coast of Cyprus, where she completed special wreck training to become a fully qualified diver. She underwent a lot of training and exams including underwater evacuation drills and ice climbing. She also had to demonstrate her knowledge and skills in scuba diving with an aqualung.

You have to admit that the girl is phenomenal, although it’s not hard to believe, as she may owe some of her skills to Ray Woolley, one of the world’s oldest divers, under whom she also trained.
