Last year, we reported on a wonderful discovery made by Swedish divers. They managed to find a real diamond among ships – the wreck of the Mars. In its time it was a technical marvel, arousing fear and envy in countries competing with Sweden for supremacy on the Baltic.

Unfortunately, its magnificence also became a curse and a road to perdition. The King of Denmark, enchanted by the vessel, wanted to have her among the ships of his fleet. As a result, an unavoidable confrontation ensued, which, after 2 days of fighting, came to a sad end, and the Mars, together with 800 crew members, went to the bottom of the Baltic Sea.

Today, when the location of the wreck is already known, and it has been protected, work is being carried out to thoroughly examine it and to make it an underwater attraction in Swedish waters. Among the members of the recent expedition to Mars was our compatriot Tomasz Stachura. Tomek was invited by Ocean Discovery as a diver-photographer to create a mosaic of the vessel resting on the bottom.

He will talk more about his role and his impressions of diving with the Swedish team in the video below.
