U-boat wreck in the river?

From Canada comes news that scientists there have found the wreck of a German U-boat in a river. Interestingly, the object, believed to be a Kriegsmarine submarine, sank 80km from the sea! The first trace of the wreck was found by accident, while searching for 2 missing men. These events took place 2 years ago, and now researchers want to return to the same place to see what is on the bottom.

During World War II, German submarines ventured into many corners, hunting down Allied ships. They also had their hunting grounds in the area of Labrador and Newfoundland, where they could be seen operating between the USA and Great Britain.

Confirmation that we are dealing with a German U-boat would certainly be a big surprise, given the distance from the sea. Nevertheless, such a situation is possible.

Representatives of the German embassy in Canada expect that if information about the find is confirmed, the fallen will be given due respect and the unit will be recognised as a war grave.
