New members of the Hall of Fame will be inducted into the ‘Women Divers Hall of Fame’ at the ‘Beneath the Sea’ banquet, 26 March 2011.

The Women Divers Hall of Fame (WDHOF), is an international non-profit organisation which aims to honour women who have contributed to diving.
Diving fields of its members include: art, science, medicine, underwater archaeology, media, education, commercial and military diving, freediving and underwater sports.

This year, the following will be admitted to the Hall of Fame:

  • Sally E. Bauer: physician, historian, writer, researcher of underwater life, president and co-founder of the Diving History Museum
  • Gina Bier: detective, police diver, NAUI instructor
  • Christine Rooney Bird: doctor, television producer, founder of ‘Ocean Research Group
  • Céline Cousteau: filmmaker, traveller, environmental activist, founder of ‘CauseCentric Productions’ and director at ‘Ocean Inspiration
  • Anna DeLoach: researcher, publisher, filmmaker
  • Karen Straus: pioneering diver, instructor, reporter
  • Maureen Langevin: diving instructor, technical diver, captain, expedition leader
  • Deborah Whitcraft: maritime historian, journalist, president and curator of the New Jersey Maritime Museum
  • Cristina Zenato: ocean conservation activist, diving instructor, cave diver

A ceremony to welcome these women to WDHOF, will be held on March 26, 2011, at the Sheraton Meadowlands Hotel, Secaucus, New Jersey.
