An interesting novelty has appeared on the shelves of diving shops – SEAC Screen dive computer. The unit has a large, easy to read display and will certainly appeal to many people.

A popular Italian manufacturer of diving equipment has announced works on SEAC Screen model some time ago. Now, finally, we have received the finished product and it is certainly worth taking a closer look at it. Especially if we are looking for a new one or planning to buy our first dive computer.

New SEAC dive computer Already at first glance you can see that we are dealing here with an appropriately sized easy to read screen. Interestingly enough, it is not a colour OLED display, as we have become accustomed to in recent years. This model uses a dot matrix LCD with dimensions of 4 x 4.7 cm.

If we delve a little deeper into the specifications, we can certainly see that the SEAC Screen dive computer is very versatile. Certainly, it will be ideally suited as a computer for divers only beginning their adventure. However, more advanced recreational divers and persons beginning their adventure with technical diving will be equally satisfied.

In addition to a large, easy-to-read screen, the unit has two buttons. With their help we can navigate through the computer menu and approve our choices. To best personalize the displayed data, we can set the contrast and brightness of the display, as well as the backlight settings. Automatic and manual modes are available, as well as backlight time adjustment.

What more?

SEAC Screen operates in three modes – Scuba, Gauge and Freedive. In the first of these, the computer uses the popular Bühlmann ZHL-16C decompression algorithm. We can also set the handling of one or two breathing mixtures with O2 up to 99%. In Gauge mode, we have a depth gauge and a stopwatch at our disposal. The Freedive mode, on the other hand, presents us with surface intervals and dive times. In addition, it also records the current and maximum depths reached during the session.

SEAC Screen dive computer A higher conservatism can be set depending on the diver’s preference. Audible and light alarms warn the user if decompression stops are violated, ascent speed is too high and maximum allowable depth (MOD) is exceeded for all gas mixtures used. Device It also calculates NoFly times, desaturation times and maximum allowable altitude for repetitive dives.

SEAC Screen firmware update and logbook software for PC / Mac are available free of charge from the manufacturer’s website. To download, simply connect your computer using the appropriate USB cable.

Price:
SEAC Screen in handheld version $289
SEAC Screen in console version with manometer USD 389
