Accident of a Polish diver in the French cave Emergence du Ressel

Accident of a Polish diver in the French cave Emergence du Ressel

On Saturday, 8 May, there was an accident involving a Polish cave diver in the popular French cave Emergence du Ressel. Fortunately, the injured man survived and was taken to hospital. The causes of the incident are currently being investigated by French services.

France’s La Depeche reported that the Polish diver’s accident occurred on Saturday afternoon. It is not known what exactly happened underwater. Shortly after the dive began, another group of divers found the man unconscious.

Divers from Switzerland, Germany and France who were present at the scene pulled the unconscious Pole from the water and called for help. In the meantime, while waiting for emergency services to arrive, they began resuscitation of the accident victim.

Upon arrival at the accident site, the rescue operation was led by the officers of the fire brigade. Departments from Cajarc, Cahors and SDIS divers from Lot and Aveyron attended the scene. Fortunately, life support was restored and the Polish diver was transported to hospital in Cahors.

According to available information, the accident involving the Pole occurred at around 4.30 p.m. The cause of the whole incident is not known. Certainly, the accident took place shortly after the start of diving. Fortunately, a moment after our compatriot another group of divers entered the water. Undoubtedly, it is thanks to their rapid reaction that the man could be saved.

The accident happened at the beginning of the cave. The injured person was not too far away when other divers found him. As they saw that he was unconscious, they pulled him out of the water and launched a rescue operation. said Jean-Paul Mignat, mayor of Marcilhac-sur-Célé

Speaking to the media, Mayor Mignat also stressed that the accident of the Polish diver is the fourth fourth incident that has happened in Ressel since the cave became a popular destination for divers from all over the world. Fortunately, in this case the injured diver was rescued and transported to hospital. His condition is described as serious.
