On Tuesday afternoon, 5 October, rescuers completed their search for the missing divers. The bodies of three men were recovered from the flooded Maria Concordia mine.

Rescuers have found and recovered the bodies of all three missing divers. The men went missing on Sunday, October 3, while exploring in The flooded Maria Concordia mine in Sobótka. The rescue operation, and later the search, was hampered by very near-zero visibility. At first, severe underwater conditions prevented firefighters from entering the water. Later, breaks of several hours were necessary between dives for the visibility to improve.

This is not a dive where we go from ground level into the water, this is a specialised, difficult, technical dive. Every dive makes our working conditions down there worse. We need to prepare the area so that it’s safe for us and so that the divers who go in there can work comfortably and safely. Tomasz Szwajnos, a spokesman for the Wrocław fire brigade, explained to reporters yesterday.

The divers have finished their work and rescuersPolice officers, experts and the prosecutor’s office will now deal with the whole case. Investigators will investigate the circumstances and causes of the entire incident.

At the moment, proceedings are being conducted for an act under Article 155 of the Criminal Code – manslaughter. The procedural steps in these proceedings are being carried out. – – Prosecutor Radosław Żarkowski from the District Prosecutor’s Office in Wrocław told the Radio Wrocław reporter.
