We are pleased to announce that our portal has become a patron of a very interesting project – “(Wy)nurzeni. Wigry expedition”. We had the opportunity to meet the participants and organisers of the whole action during this year’s Diving Fair “Podwodna Przygoda”. Supporting the (Wy)nurzonych team, we will report for our readers on their activities and will bring closer the effects of their work and the results of the findings. But what exactly is this project?
As written by the main perpetrators of all the commotion, (Wy)nurzeni. The Wigry expedition is a unique and pioneering project, which covers the beautiful Wigry National Park. In the course of a series of dives, spread over the next few months, further water reservoirs will be explored, which are usually under strict protection, and thus still remain unknown and conceal many secrets. The research is scheduled to end in October 2016, and the first summaries are expected to appear just one month later.
The results of the explorations and the photo and video documentation will therefore constitute unique research material, which will hopefully answer many questions related to the fauna and flora of each of the studied water bodies and will allow us to learn more about the ecosystems existing in these places.
The organisers themselves have set themselves the following objectives:
– photographic and film documentation of fauna and flora of selected lakes (above and under water);
– making of a documentary film about diving in the lakes of Wigry National Park;
– realisation of a cycle of nature-educational films (also for promotional purposes);
– Organisation of a photo exhibition of the project documenting the fauna and flora of the waters of the Wigierski National Park;
– publication of a photo album (if sponsors can be obtained);
– Promoting the idea of safe diving as a sport accessible to all, including children;
– Promotion of the Wigry National Park and the whole Suwalszczyzna region;
The water bodies included in the project include lakes which are strict protection areas: Białe Wigierskie, Pietronajć, Królówki, Długie Wigierskie and Suchar III or IV, as well as more accessible water bodies such as Lake Gałęziste, Lake Krusznik, Lake Klonek and Lake Czarne. Among rivers, the Czarna Hańcza, Kamionka and Wiatrołuża will be put under the magnifying glass of the Wigry expedition – all of them in fragments or in whole constituting the strict protection area!
On our part, we will support the organisers of the (Wy)nurzeni project by promoting their activities and informing them about all the arrangements. Until the very end, we will report on the course of the project, publish summaries and multimedia materials. Anyone interested in this topic will certainly not be able to complain about the lack of information. Soon we will present reports from the first dives and the most interesting findings, and there is no shortage of these!
If you are interested in supporting the organisers of the project – which we strongly encourage – all contact details can be found on the JagnaBlue Diving School website.
