The renowned international diving organisation, PADI, has issued 20 million certificates. Alexandra Swanson was the lucky holder of the jubilee certificate. To honour her, PADI funded a special prize for her – a trip to Australia, to the largest coral reef on Earth.

The lucky, newly minted PADI Open Water Diver licence holder was very excited and could not hide her elation.

“Receiving the licence itself was a great joy for me, but when I found out about the award from PADI, I couldn’t believe my luck! It is a great feeling! My instructor took great care of me, explained everything and helped me get into a whole new world, and the diving itself was fabulous. Now, when I think of going to such a wonderful place, I can’t believe my luck!” – recounted a visibly touched Swanson.

It’s not just the newly minted OWD licence holder who has reason to celebrate. Her instructor Timmothy Augon and the staff of the dive centre in Micronesia, where the certificate was issued, were also honoured with a trip to the Great Barrier Reef.

The countdown to 20 million certificates has been underway since April 2011. Congratulations to the winners!
