The production Mysterious Baltic Wreck Hunters is a continuation of the well-received series Mysterious Baltic Wrecks. In the new production Tomasz Stachura and a group of divers Baltictech explores and researches the history of next wrecks from the Polish part of the Baltic Sea. After the wrecks the destroyer ORP Wicher, tanker Terratorpedo boat Tupolev G5, U-boat U-768, new discovery and a floating workshop for seaplanes Boelckeand now it’s time for Shipwreck Akademik Karpinsky.
Each episode of the series takes a closer look at the wreck and history of one vessel that rests at the bottom of Baltic Sea. During the implementation of the individual sections Baltictech Group has reached new and previously unknown information. This has not only provided a more complete picture of the units in question and the fate of the crews, but also revealed facts that were previously unknown.
Such flavours will probably further encourage lovers of wreck diving to watch the series Mystery hunters of the Baltic Sea. On the other hand, it is a production so unique that true wreck diving enthusiasts need no additional persuasion.
The hero of the latest episode is the wreck of a large cargo ship Akademik Karpinsky. The vessel was built in Emden, in the German shipyard Nordseewerke, in 1936 and initially sailed under the name Thalia. She was interned in the Spanish port of Cadiz in 1943 and surrendered to the Allies in 1945. The Ministry of War Transport (MoWT) renamed the ship Empire Consett and then handed her over to the Soviet Union in 1946. The Soviets renamed the ship and gave it the name Akademik Karpinsky. The vessel remained in service until 31 August 1953, until her sinking.
The series consists of 8 episodes and is aired on Canal+. The seventh episode will be shown on Monday, November 1, at 9 p.m. on Canal+ Premium and Canal+ Premium HD. A repeat performance will be shown on the same day at 10 p.m. on Canal+ 1 and Canal+1 HD. A day later, the episode will hit the Canal+ online platform and will be available in the VOD system.
