Miss Scuba UK is an annual beauty pageant that incorporates elements of diving and those of the underwater world. The upcoming edition will determine ‘Miss Scuba Diving’ over a 7-day competition to be held in November 2014.
The competition will consist of 3 days of dive training for the 8 Miss Scuba finalists and a beauty contest on the 7th and final day of the event. In addition to this, the contestants will take part in a number of activities such as beach clean ups and lectures given by well known figures in the diving industry.
The winner of Miss Scuba UK 2014 will qualify for the next competition – Miss Scuba International. The global final of the competition will be held in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia. In addition, all 10 finalists of the UK edition will undergo training and receive PADI OWD certificates.
The main objectives of the competition are to promote safe diving, to protect the Oceans, to stimulate the development of international diving tourism, to promote diving education and career opportunities in the diving industry and to promote a healthy, active lifestyle.
Miss Scuba International was first held in 2011. There have been many different beauty pageants until then, but none of them focused on diving and ocean conservation.
