In the career of every diver, sooner or later there comes a moment when he decides to buy a dive computer. An item that, in addition to improving safety, allows us to conduct dives according to a specific plan, as well as log the statistics of your dives.

Regardless of the model we decide on, whether it is more or less complicated, we must get to know it well. Without this we will not be able to squeeze out the maximum possibilities offered to us by the manufacturer.

There are different ways of doing this. Some dig through the manual and try to learn it page by page, putting it into practice. Others, on the other hand, based on the fact that most devices of this type have an intuitive menu, go wild and figure out a new “toy” by jumping through subsequent screens. As it turns out, there is another, quite interesting way…

While browsing the internet looking for places related to diving equipment, I came across a site that is kind of unique. It turns out that there is such a thing as learning to use a dive computer… online. Thanks to www.divecomputertraining.com, we have the opportunity to get to know, in detail, the constantly growing number of models of diving equipment.

The authors of the website, thanks to professionally prepared video lessons, provide comprehensive instruction in the use of the selected model, such as: getting to know the possibilities of the computer, navigating its menu, correct reading of indications and programming of settings.

During the lessons, issues such as diving on air, nitrox, with a two-cylinder set, or the situation where we fall into decompression are also conducted and discussed. Finally, to check our knowledge of the chosen equipment, we will take part in a virtual test. If we detect gaps in our knowledge, we will be referred to sections with material we have not sufficiently mastered.

To take part in the virtual training, we will have to purchase it. The prices are not too high and range between $0.99-12.99. The whole thing has a very interesting graphic and visual design, but unfortunately it is only available in English. Nevertheless, it is a very cool alternative possibility to get to know our new dive computer
