The first dive that Wroclaw citizens could observe took place on 24 June 1797 in the Oder River. The designer and inventor of the diving suit in which the diver worked was a mechanic Karl Heinrich Klingert. Klingert was awarded the title of Royal Mechanic of the Prussian Monarchy in 1789. The exhibition will include a reconstructed picture of Klingert and engravings by him.

The exhibition, marking the 250th anniversary of the inventor’s birth, was prepared by: Karina Kowalska from the Museum of Diving in Warsaw, Wiesław Wachowski and Janusz Pilecki from HDS Poland. As additional exhibits will be presented relics from the collection of the Navy Museum related to the history of diving.

The exhibition in Gdynia, in Mała Gallery named after Admiral of the Fleet Andrzej Karweta, will be open from 18 February to 3 March, from Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and on Saturdays and Sundays on request. Admission free.
