Less than a month ago, we presented Trislide, a product which helps to put on and take off wetsuits. Prepared with triathletes in mind, it has inevitably started appearing wherever neoprene wetsuits are used. Divers24 editors received this preparation to check what? how? and is it really worth it?
It is probably not necessary to convince anyone that dressing and taking off the diving suit several times is not very pleasant. Especially during a diving safari, where you enter the water 3-4 times a day for a whole week. The spray we received is supposed to solve the feeling of discomfort related to the situation described above.
Application takes a moment and is not problematic. Just remember to cover the skin evenly with a layer of the product. After a while, you’re ready to jump into the foam (literally). Trislide makes the surface of your skin as smooth as a baby’s bottom, and in contact with the suit material (or any other material) you will notice the “slip”.
As a result, the dry wetsuit can be put on without any problems, much faster than usual. Repeating the test with a wetsuit has the same effect. Regardless of whether it will be our 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 10th dive that day, we can be sure that putting on the neoprene will be quick and pleasant.
Importantly, the product as described does not disappear when exposed to water alone (the product ran off with the soap afterwards without a problem). Let’s hope that it behaves similarly during our stay at the pool throughout the day. Unfortunately, our tester was unwilling to take on a challenge spread over a little more than 1h. Nevertheless, his ambiguous smile and keeping the Trislide to himself, allow us to claim that some more later, secret testing may have taken place….
During the dive itself we did not notice any difference. Unfortunately, the product does not improve buoyancy, trim or shorten decompression, but you can’t have everything. However, we made an interesting observation while wearing a too small wetsuit (the so-called post-Christmas kilo test). Those who had to get into a too small wetsuit in the past know how much effort and time you have to devote to this task. It turns out that having Trislide spray in our kit can significantly speed up the whole process.
Both in the case of the fitted wetsuit and the one which clings to the curves of our tester, we found no traces of the product on the suit. We didn’t take a special break between applying the product and getting dressed. On this basis, we assume that our precious wetsuit is safe and will not soak up the lubricant.
To sum it up – if you suffer the agony, fatigue or just plain discomfort of repeatedly wearing a wetsuit, Trislide will definitely come to your rescue. It is easily and quickly sprayed on the body and after a while (literally) you are wearing a wetsuit. It doesn’t stain or come off when in contact with water alone. The undoubted minus is the price, which is about 50pln for a 150ml container. However, at this point everyone should ask themselves – how much do I value my own comfort?
