On 22-23 March 2019, the next edition of the “Głębiny” Diving Film Festival will take place in Ruda Śląska. In this year’s programme, everyone will find something for themselves. The organisers have made sure that the topics include both technical and recreational diving, as well as freediving. Great importance has been attached to the “Podwodne Świat” film competition.

During the festival, anyone can present their film. Last year’s competition attracted around 30 productions, most of them well edited, interesting, showing a variety of diving sites, from lakes to seas and oceans, quarries and mines.

[blockquote style=”2″]”The success of last year’s edition left no illusions that the diving world needs this type of event. Surprising attendance and excellent feedback, and above all, enquiries about the next edition strongly motivated us to act,” says Tomasz Bartniczak, President of the Rudzki Association of Non-Trivial Initiatives In-nI, which is the organizer of the event.[/blockquote]

Underwater filming has become accessible to everyone, mainly thanks to a wide range of equipment at affordable prices. We care a lot about showing amateur films, often being an inspiration to organize an expedition to the presented places.

As the organisers stress, an important aspect of the event is the photographic exhibition. As was the case last year, the ‘Głębiny’ Festival will present more than a dozen exceptional works by the outstanding photographer.

[blockquote style=”2″]”It is supposed to be a bit extreme, cold and exotic. I personally am very much looking forward to this exhibition. Moreover, I can’t wait to meet the author of the photos, as well as other guests of the festival, interesting and original people. Follow our fanpage on Facebook and you will soon find out the details.” – admitted Marcin Adamowicz excitedly[/blockquote].

The winning and commended films will be screened on the big screen on Saturday 23 March. The festival winners will also be presented with prizes, sponsored by the festival’s sponsors. At this point it is worth mentioning that the event is entirely free of charge. No participant pays for taking part in the festival.

This is possible mainly thanks to funds from 1% tax donations, as well as donations from supporters and cooperating companies. The organisers emphasise that they care very much about the non-commercial character of the festival. It would not have been possible, however, if it were not for the support of partners who, among others, founded the prizes, but also donated money for the organisation of the festival. This joint effort allowed to bring to life the largest non-commercial diving event in Poland.

The location of the event has not changed and the main festival venue is the Henryk Bista Municipal Cultural Centre at 69 Niedurnego St. Participants can also use Pub Druid, located in the same building, where the post-festival “Diving Party” will be held on Saturday night. The festival will also be accompanied by events in the swimming pool complexes in Ruda, where, among other things, an amateur underwater hockey tournament will be held.
