One of the most prestigious freediving competitions, the Vertical Blue competition in the Bahamas, will not take place this year. The organiser announced the decision via its social media channel.

The Vertical Blue competition is known as the freediving Wimbledon. The event was created by 18-time world record holder and one of the biggest legends of the sport – William Trubridge. Over the years, the Vertical Blue event has gained a very high reputation, bringing together the top competitors from around the world every year.

The Vertical Blue competition has been running continuously for the past 10 years.

At last year’s event alone, 46 athletes from 23 countries competing in the waters of Dean’s Blue Hole in the Bahamas achieved a phenomenal total of 10 world records and 42 national records.
