The local diving enthusiasts, who for almost 2 decades have been doing their best to improve the condition of the reservoir and keep it and the surrounding area in good order, are now faced with a situation where, despite the huge contribution of time (550 hours spent cleaning the bottom), effort (15 tonnes of rubbish excavated!) and finances (investing in the repair and renovation of the existing infrastructure, conducting first aid training for beachgoers, etc.), they may be thrown out of it!

Balaton is the name of a flooded mine workings, located halfway between other popular dive sites such as “Koparki” and “Zakrzówek”. It is located in the centre of Trzebinia. The maximum depth of the 3ha basin is 10m and visibility varies between 2-4m. Apart from divers, it is used as a municipal swimming pool.

As they say about their mission, they want to save the ecosystems dying in the reservoir and restore the waters to the state they were in 25 years ago, while taking the best possible care of the safety and comfort of the bathing area. The divers have been carrying out a number of interesting projects at the site, which you can read about on the website, where you can also support the entire campaign.
