There comes a moment when our beloved wetsuit starts to show the first signs of wear and tear, after all, since we bought it, we have not been sparing ourselves from diving. What to do when the neoprene starts to smell unpleasant and wearing it poses a serious challenge to the sense of smell and inner aesthetics?

The easiest way to make sure our Diving suitis to rinse it regularly under running water. Just hang it in the shower or lay it in the bathtub and every few dips, rinse it well in warm water. This will get rid of any salt, sand or physiological fluids. Why warm water? Because it better dissolves the minerals that have accumulated from our body and environment.

The next step is to hang our wetsuit (of course with the outside turned up) somewhere in the shade, preferably on a hanger, to ensure good air circulation. We should also avoid leaving it in the sun, because, although it will dry faster, it will become less flexible and more difficult to wear at the next opportunity.

Caution – remember not to leave our equipment unattended in a place where it can be stolen from us!

Once a year, as part of maintenance, we can use special detergents designed for cleaning neoprene. Such detergents allow disinfecting the material of our suit and leave a pleasant fragrance. However, under no circumstances should you wash the foam in a washing machine! Just put it in the bathtub, fill it with water, add a detergent of your choice (e.g. Mirazine) and leave it for a few hours, or wash it gently by hand. Afterwards it is enough to rinse it well and dry it.

Under no circumstances should you return your wetsuit to the laundry, regardless of the type, as the delicate neoprene will be destroyed!

We use the same methods analogically to clean and maintain the good condition of our boots, gloves and hood. By regularly cleaning and caring for our diving equipmentWe will make it last longer and its use will be pleasant and comfortable.
