Divers of the Szczecin Griffin have found a sunken locomotive!

Divers from the Szczecin Gryf Underwater Exploration Group can talk about incredible luck. While cleaning the bottom of Szczurze Lake in Golczewo, they found not only rubbish but also a sunken locomotive!

During exploration of the underwater world you may come across all sorts of things, such as old bottles, unexploded bombs or lots of rubbish. However, every diver dreams of finding a sunken tank, plane or locomotive during their underwater adventures!

According to divers who have made a discoveryby one of the piers they probably managed to find the sunken wreck of the narrow-gauge railway together with the carriage. Other artefacts, including a container for alcohol, were also found near the locomotive.

Unfortunately, a more detailed examination and photographic and film documentation is not possible at the moment. All because of the extremely turbid water. However, the situation will improve with the coming of autumn and that is when the wreck is to be examined in more detail.

Why such an unusual object at the bottom of the lake? According to members of the Szczecin Underwater Exploration Group Gryf, the train was probably sunk by the Germans. The incident may have happened during World War II.
