The dive, in order to be considered a national uniformed services diving record, had to meet several requirements. The person undertaking the attempt had to be a uniformed services officer. The whole dive had to be adequately supported by a support team made up entirely of uniformed personnel on active duty. And of course, most importantly, the required depth had to be achieved.
The dive was conducted on an open circuit, and Wacław Lejko, who took up the challenge, in addition to wanting to measure up to his own result achieved two years earlier also in Italy’s Lake Garda, was motivated by a desire to support a colleague who had been diagnosed with malignant cancer.
A score of 203 metres was waiting to be conquered. From the information available at the moment, during a dive lasting 417 minutes, it was possible to reach a depth of 233 metres and quite significantly push the limit of the national record.
The entire attempt was supervised by an independent witness, who was diving instructor Daniel Poplawski. Everything was announced via its home page by the Record Office.
Interestingly, another attempt to break this record is planned for July. Also in the waters of Lake Garda, Sebastian Marczewski, about whom a lot of fuss was made on the occasion of his attempt to swim along Lake Hańcza under the bottom, is going to attempt it.
