New Zealand’s William Trubridge, the absolute record holder and world’s leading free diver, will not win gold in the CWT competition at the AIDA World Championships held in Greece. Gold went to another well-known figure in the freediving world – Guillaume Nere, while silver went to Carlos Coste.

The following day’s competition in the southern Greek city of Kalamata was full of penalties and disqualifications, with adverse conditions and low temperatures making things even more difficult. Trubridge, failing to complete the protocol that applies on the surface, thus losing the bronze medal that his score of 111m gave him.

Disappointed with the result, but not devastated, the world champion in the CNF competition, announced a fight for gold, on the last day of the tournament, when the Free Immersion competition will be held.

Let us remind you that this is the second disqualification of a leading figure of this competition. On the first day, Natalia Molchanova lost the gold medal and the world record in the CNF competition for irregularities during diving.
