On 17 September, on the initiative of the Exploring Podwarszawskie Diving Group and the Raja Diving Centre, a clean-up of Glinianki in Zielonka near Warsaw took place. The entire event was organised as part of the annual Clean Up the World campaign.

The international Clean up The world initiative took place in Poland for the 18th time. The main theme of this year’s action was the protection and cleanliness of forests. It just so happens that very interesting diving sites are located in forests or their surroundings. No wonder the divers decided to take part in this noble mission.

On Saturday morning, as many as 20 divers turned up at the assembly point. They were assisted by anglers and residents of Zielonka. After dividing into teams and presenting the clean-up plan, the participants regrouped and began to clear the equipment over the designated reservoirs.

The Zielonka mudflats are several bodies of water, so the forces had to be distributed so that the largest possible area could be cleaned. Underwater cleaning took about an hour, although at times the conditions were not the most pleasant.

The maximum logged depth was 4.7m and visibility varied between 0-4m. The divers brought ashore countless bottles, cans, jars and various pieces of plastic.

After the action, there was an opportunity to dine at the local restaurant “U, Pietrzaków”, which was responsible for catering during the event. Afterwards, there was a distribution of gifts from sponsors, diving logging and exchange of observations and opinions about the action.

Each participant received a bottle of wine and a Barefoot t-shirt, a gift from Teastore.pl tea shop and a voucher for a free air refill at the Decathlon Targówek shop.

It was already second action cleaning of the Zielonki Glinianki organised by the Raja Diving Centre in cooperation with the Polish Angling Association. As the organizers assure – it certainly won’t be the last!
