Today will be short, concise and straight to the point. After all, a minimum of unnecessary matter is something that technical diving should be characterised by. And it is this that unites the speakers presented today at the Baltictech 2017 conference. Despite the fact that they deal with completely different fields, they are both unquestionable authorities in their fields, in which they have enormous knowledge and experience
Kevin Gurr – has been involved in technical diving since its beginnings in Europe. He was the first instructor outside the USA, training beyond the limits of sport and recreational diving. Technical sense and intuition, allows him to constantly work on improving diving equipment. Recently, he has been focusing on computers dedicated to closed circuits.
He has been a guide and participant in many high level expeditions. These included the first dives on the wreck of the RMS “Britannic” in 1997. exploration and search for wrecks in the Pacific (and in several other places around the world) and the filming and descent in MIR boats to the wreck on the RMS “Titanic”.
He is also the author of the very interesting and important publication “Technical Diving from the Bottom Up”, in which he includes many of his experiences.
By attending Kevin’s lecture, you will have the opportunity to learn what a rebreather really is and how it works.
Bas Poelmann has been diving since 1993. He developed his career as a technical diving instructor in PADI, SSI, DAN and NAUI. Since 2008 he has been involved in efforts to remove fishing nets left in the North Sea.
He has been involved with the Ghost Fishing Foundation since its inception in 2012. As an extremely active campaigner, he was quickly drawn into its structures and is now a member of the board. Bas has made a major contribution to the mission the foundation has set itself, actively working in Germany, Greece, Scotland and the Netherlands.
In addition to diving, Bas works as an open sea survival and safety instructor for Falck in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
He will give a talk at the conference on safety and survival at sea for wreck divers.
