We already know the date of the 10th jubilee edition of the Scorpene Rafting on the Łyna River, which takes place every year in Olsztyn. The rally will start on the 23rd of March and not on the 16th of March, as the organizers originally announced. The entrance to the water will traditionally take place at noon, at 12.00.

As this year’s edition coincides with the celebrations of the 660th anniversary of granting town rights by the town of Olsztyn, the organisers decided to include it in the programme of the event. This year the prizes for the best disguise will be awarded in three categories:

-a costume related to the patron saint of the City of Olsztyn, St James

– costume related to Nicolaus Copernicus

– fancy dress

In order to take part in the Rafting Race you need to register at the official website of the event. Every year the Scorpene Rafting on the Łyna attracts huge crowds of divers, willing to have fun together in the capital of Warmia. During 10 years the Olsztyn event has become the biggest meeting of this type in Poland.

Here is what we can read about the rafting trip on the organiser’s website:

“Skorpenowy Spływowy Łyną” is the largest event for divers in the country, which takes place in Olsztyn. It is a part of the action “OLSZTYN ACTIVELY” and is the main element of its inauguration. The idea of the Rafting is based on very simple rules: anyone can take part in it free of charge, regardless of membership in a diving federation, regardless of age or outfit. Last year, in this way, almost half a thousand divers from all over the country welcomed spring with us. We will meet on Saturday 23 March in the Łyna’s riverbed, to cover a few kilometres of the river together. Everyone who manages to get to the finish line is entitled to souvenir gadgets, as well as participation in a draw for valuable prizes sponsored by the largest companies producing and distributing diving equipment, but not only ???? After all these attractions we’ll have a party until dawn!

It is a time for good entertainment, meeting people with the same passion, exchanging information about diving sites or networking.”
