Especially since there are new names among the speakers! They are well known to Divers 24 readers: Waldemar Ossowski from the Polish Maritime Museum in Gdańsk and Magdalena Nowakowska from the Institute of Archaeology, University of Warsaw. Another surprise is an underwater photography exhibition by Michał Mikuła, which will take place during the festival.

For those undecided, we would like to remind you that until 9th February 2013 you can buy your ticket online, which is 20pln cheaper than the one you will be able to buy on the day of the festival!

Finally, a preview of Leigh Bishop’s new presentation, which will have its premiere in Lodz! It promises to be very interesting!

The English Channel has more shipwrecks per square mile than any other body of water in the world. Many of these wrecks are sailing ships that have sunk as a result of storms or collisions. Leigh explored and carefully photographed some of the more significant wrecks.

Most of these sailing ships, such as Waitara, Smyrna and Kingsbridge stuffed with cargo destined for Australia, never got there. They left London and sailed across the Channel to meet their fate, a fate that took them to the bottom of the sea.

This is a brand new theme prepared for 2013 and will be presented for the first time in February in Lodz. Leigh will talk about the search and exploration of these once proud sailing ships while showing hundreds of photographs from above and below the water. Many of these photos have never been published and will be seen for the first time at the fourth edition of the wreck festival.

The presentation, will also be very rich in photographs of amazing artefacts excavated over the years and which artefacts, have contributed to the identification of these sailing ships.

The wrecks that will be discussed are accessible to most well-trained technical divers. Leigh will outline their positions and the methods and developments in technology that have contributed to the exploration of these wrecks over the years.
