The temperature is plummeting, it’s wet, windy and you don’t really want to venture outside your warm home. In short, autumn is in full swing, and to make matters worse, winter is already lurking around the corner to treacherously cover everything with snow one night and bring with it frost. If we want to continue diving in such conditions, we cannot do without the right equipment.

A dry suit is the basis for diving in unfavourable temperatures. It will provide us with comfort both underwater and on the surface. Having such equipment, we can enjoy the diving season 365 days a year and significantly extend the time of diving below 20m.

The market is full of various models of dry suits. They differ in many respects: the material they are made of, their weight, the location of the zipper, etc. Today, I will introduce you to a product of the Swedish company Trelleborg – Viking X-treme, which in my opinion is a great compromise between price and quality.

The material used for X-Treme is a strong and elastic polymerised fabric with a very smooth surface which makes it very easy to clean the suit and repair small leaks and damages. Moreover, it dries very quickly; on a sunny day you can put the dry suit in your bag after only several minutes. Additionally, the material is very light and thin, which makes it characterised by great freedom of movement.

The material is connected to each other with seams welded from the inside and additionally reinforced with polymerised tape. Their small number makes it much easier to detect potential leaks and repair them.

Viking X-Treme diving suit has only one type of boot. They are made of neoprene flooded with rubber, which makes them highly thermal and resistant to mechanical damage. There is a special spur on the heel that prevents the fin from slipping off.

Inside, the suit is fitted with braces to ensure the best possible fit after donning. The gas-tight zipper will be placed either on the front or on the back of the suit, depending on your choice. When ordering this model of the suit, you have a choice of latex or neoprene neck flaps, while the wrist cuffs are available in cone or bottle shapes. Both the addition and release valves are Trelleborg products.

In a set with the wetsuit, we will receive a warming pad (chosen from 3 available models), LP hose, repair kit, wax for lock maintenance and a bag for the wetsuit. In the extended set you can buy Viking rings.

X-Treme is a very versatile wetsuit. It will be perfectly suitable for recreational as well as technical diving. It does not matter whether you are just starting your diving adventure, or you are already an experienced diver, you will find many advantages in it, which, due to the attractive price of the set, make it a tempting alternative to more popular brands.

The disadvantages include the lack of possibility of tailor-made sewing (although the wide range of sizes partly compensates for this) and a non-standard connector at the addition valve (we can also deal with this by replacing it with a universal option)

Despite the fact that at first glance the suit appears to be fragile and prone to damage, nothing could be further from the truth. Even in the most demanding caves, you can find divers successfully using this model.

The price for the whole set is about 4200-4600 pln. The wetsuits are available in black and blue-black.
