Last weekend we decided to appear in the Czech Republic to take part in another – the 18th (!) edition of Techmeeting. The so-called “small” edition of the event for technical divers, was traditionally organized in a resort located in Budišov nad Budišovkou. The fact that the picturesque surroundings and a very relaxed form of the event suited all the participants, who mostly come to every edition of the Techmeeting, was immediately noticeable.
Approximately 120 divers from the Czech Republic and neighbouring countries met on site, and for the whole weekend, in a pleasant and intimate atmosphere, they could listen to many interesting lectures related to technical diving, cave diving, wreck diving and the use of closed circuits.
The invited speakers were mostly locals. David Skoumal – presented a very interesting topic about diving in a polluted and contaminated environment, Jakub Řeháček – talked about new projects carried out in the USA, Ivo Havránek – presented activities carried out as part of Team CaveBase, Silvestr Pěkník and Jiří Pišl – shared photo and video material shot during dives in the Baltic Sea, followed by very interesting material on diving in Sardinia and Ressel presented by Radek Teichman.

else{ ugCheckForErrors(“unitegallery_4_1”, “jquery”);}
};
.
There was also no shortage of exhibitors with diving equipment. Apart from Ursuit and Tecline brands, there were also representatives of Mola Mola, SeaYa or IQ Sub. Interested visitors also had the opportunity to take a closer look at the X-CRR rebreather and talk to its creator.
In between all this there was of course time for backstage talks and a sip or two of excellent Czech beer. The well-organised team of locals also enjoyed a shisha. After the official part, discussions over a pint and a glass of whiskey or rum continued until dawn, and the mood was obviously good for all participants.
The so-called “small” Techmeeting is a specific event, focused on a specific audience. There were no random people here. A well-known group of technical divers, who have been seeing each other on similar occasions for years, came together at one of the oldest events of its kind to share new experiences, see old friends and experience some Czech hospitality. Next year Techmeeting returns to Bratislava in its main edition, where you can expect even more guests from all over the world and many interesting lectures and presentations!
