The eighth edition of Baltictech will certainly not disappoint anyone. Both beginner technical divers, fans of the latest discoveries and high-profile projects, closed circuit diving enthusiasts, as well as those interested in new unusual locations, equipment innovations, diving medicine and photo and video documentation will find their favourites.
The numerous invited guests include figures well known to the Polish audience as well as somewhat more anonymous names, but I recommend watching them all with due attention, as the lectures prepared may surprise many.
Those interested in closed circuit diving should definitely not miss out on meetings with our compatriots.
Krzysztof Wnorowski co-owner of Tryton Diving Centre, an excellent trainer and diver, and co-organiser of the Baltictech conference, will talk about CCR diving for beginners.
In turn, Marcin Bramson, a diver with nearly 20 years of experience, who has been diving technically since 2003, the last 10 years of which have been with the use of CCR, will share his considerable experience in the subject of cave diving with the use of closed circuits, while discussing a project aimed at the exploration of the Mexican cave “Box Ki Sin”.
Wreck diving enthusiasts will have plenty to choose from. The meeting with Cesare Balzi, who will come from sunny Italy to talk about the background of diving on the wreck of the Italian torpedo boat “Andromeda”, sunk by RAF planes in March 1941, promises to be extremely interesting.
Personally, I will certainly not miss the opportunity to meet the Finnish Immi Wallin. The name of this lady appears in practically all the most interesting discoveries made in the Gulf of Finland and around the Baltic Sea. If you are not familiar with names such as Sub Zone or Badewanne and the discoveries they are associated with, it is really worth making time for this lecture.
On the subject of discovering new wrecks, one could ask a well-known figure in the environment, Benedict Hac. Head of the Department of Operational Oceanography and the floating laboratory R/V “IMOR”. A graduate of the Naval Academy, he has been connected with the sea for 33 years. A class A international hydrographer, and a participant in the “Santi Finding the Eagle” project. For the last 6 years Dr Hac has been leading the research project “Monitoring of the seabed contamination in areas of wreck sites”, which has already covered 16 wrecks lying mainly in waters sensitive to pollution, e.g. the Gulf of Gdańsk.
Marcin Jamkowski will also appear at the next edition of Baltictech. A well-known figure in the Polish diving world. During the meeting with Marcin you will learn a lot about the details of archaeological discoveries on the Vistula River. The occasion will be special because soon both the book and the film “Rescued from the Flood” will be available.
The last of those chosen by me for today’s presentation is Jarek Kur. A guest about whom the shortest thing to say is that he says little, but does a lot. Jarek has a PhD in Biological Sciences. He has been diving for 20 years, and for the last 15 he has been caving and speleology. Since 2008 he has participated in the deepest projects in professional diving on the Polish shelf. He is passionate about rebreathers, underwater photography and videography. During the Baltictech meeting he will present the topic “Diver training and CCR adaptation for cave diving”.
Of course, the above mentioned people are only a small part of the invited guests and my subjective choice of what I would like to see for sure. I am sure that among the list of speakers you will find many other interesting proposals, so I invite everyone to Baltichtech websitefor a detailed list of guests and topics.
Dive scooter manufacturer Suex and dive computer manufacturer Shearwater are the sponsors of this year’s edition. So we can expect that the prizes during the traditional draw will be extremely valuable.
We, #DIVERS24, have assumed the role of media patron and are once again supporting the Baltictech organisers. You can be sure that we will not miss any important information and you will find out everything about the event in Gdynia on our portal. In the coming weeks you can expect a more detailed list of speakers and presented topics.
