Snoorkling + scuba diving = snuba?

Interesting equation right? Many times, when swimming in your diving ABC, have you felt unsatisfied and limited? In turn, dressing all the diving equipment seemed to be an excess of form over substance, in order to have fun underwater for a while? Perhaps we have a solution to this problem for you – the “snuba”.

Snuba is a combination of classic snoorkelling and diving. It was invented long, long ago, in 1989, by Michael Stafford. The new creation was presented to the public as a way to spend longer time under water without the need to wear a lot of equipment. The first independent dive could be made after only 30 minutes of lessons!

To enjoy the possibilities offered by snuba, all you need is a diving ABC and a weight belt. Air is supplied by a regulator on a 6 m hose connected to a tank on the surface. The whole thing moves along with the diver, so the only limitation is the length of the hose.

Snuba diving is certainly not a substitute for diving, but it can be an interesting solution for people who cannot enjoy the pleasure of exploring the underwater world due to lifting problems. This form of underwater recreation is available in over 70 locations around the world, including resorts such as: Hawaii, the Caribbean, Florida, California, Cancun, Laguna Truka and Cozumel in Mexico.
