Seacraft, the Polish manufacturer of diving scooters, has announced the launch of a new product. It is the SLS2 lighting system dedicated to DPV units.

Long gone are the days when a dive scooter’s only function was to provide additional propulsion and enhance exploration capabilities. Of course, this is still the main purpose of any DPV unit, but no longer the only one.

Over the years, developers have developed scooters in terms of the power offered, the battery capacity, reducing their weight and increasing the robustness of the overall design. Now, however, we have entered a new era. Today, designers and engineers are busy creating and implementing further functionalitiesto make their scooters more complete.

The voice of the users themselves is also important here. Over the last 10 years, dpv scooters have found recognition in the eyes of divers and have become firmly established in our reality. With their popularisation came further suggestions, modifications and improvements to develop existing models. And the voice of the user is something that no sensible manufacturer will ignore.

Safe use of a dive scooter requires adequate visibility. When the environment gets dark, powerful headlights support the diver’s orientation and make him more visible to the team. Therefore, for many people it has always seemed natural to install a lighting system on a DPV scooter, as they see their craft as a useful tool and exploration companion also in the dark – reads the manufacturer’s website

But let’s get down to specifics. Lighting mounted on a dive scooter is nothing new. One would like to say that the owners of DPV units have always, in one way or another, attached torches to their machines. However, these were imperfect solutions, where something was always at the expense of something else. So it became necessary to create a system solution…

The new lighting system from Seacraft is an attempt to create an answer to divers’ needs. What is worth noting is an attempt to simultaneously eliminate the disadvantages of previously known solutions. It is, of course, about the power source and the possibility of convenient lighting control.

The two main aspects of light in diving, of course, are object illumination and communication. Therefore, easy control of the light from the scooter was extremely important and… it seems that a tailor-made solution has been created. In fact, on the SLS2, the light output can be adjusted using buttons on the scooter’s display.

What’s more, the power supply issue has also been resolved. The SLS2 lighting system is designed to integrate seamlessly with all Seacraft scooters with a power converter installed. The whole thing draws power via the E/O power socket, directly from the battery of our DPV.
