The author of the building design and interior arrangement is FORMA Architekci studio. The contractor of the investment is Skanska. The form of the building is modern, very simple and refers to the character of the object, but at the same time, it fits perfectly into the surroundings and creates a compatible whole with the Vistula River Museum neighbouring with the Centre.

A novel solution on a national scale is the use of a system of hoists in the building, which will be used to display the exhibits gathered in the exhibition hall. Another innovation is the use of a system of photovoltaic panels on the roof of the building, generating power for the facility.

Inside the building equipment for the Study Hall is being prepared, in which three historic yachts: “Dal”, “Opty” and “Kumka IV” as well as structural parts of historic ships will be presented. The second space of the Studio Warehouse – the Mezzanine – will be equipped with glazed sliding shelving, where small museum items will be exhibited. In the Conservation Studio, in addition to research and conservation work, activities related to digitisation are planned. A plan is also being finalised for educational activities to be carried out jointly in the Conservation Centre and the Vistula River Museum.

The project “Shipwreck Conservation Centre with a Study Warehouse in Tczew” is implemented under the programme “Preservation and Revitalisation of Cultural Heritage” and has been supported by the Norwegian and EEA funds from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway as well as by national funds. The total cost of the project is PLN 22 million. The task is implemented in Polish-Norwegian partnership with the National Maritime Museum in Oslo and the Museum of Cultural History in Oslo.
