We are all familiar with the puzzle toy that is the Rubik’s Cube. Probably you have tried to solve it more than once with better or worse results. Imagine, then, if we were to raise the level of difficulty by descending to a depth of 100 metres and attempting …

Wojciech Tecław from the H2O Poznań Academy achieved his goal with the result of 1 minute and 16 seconds and set the Guinness record. Both the depth and time of the cube are awe-inspiring, let alone when you combine them.

This was posted on the project’s homepage last night:

“Today we set a world record for the deepest Rubik’s cube ever laid! As planned, we reached the planned depth of 100 metres, the cube was laid in about 1 minute and 16 seconds!

The algorithm (scramble) used to unfold the dice was chosen by independent witnesses from Planet Divers Dahab Dahab dive base in the presence of a judge. After being unfolded by the judge to the drawn layout, the cube was placed in a special bag and sealed.

The judge, in the presence of cameras at a depth of 100m, broke the seal, presented the layout of the cube and then Wojtek had 10 seconds to familiarise himself with the layout of the cube and began solving it.

After the rehearsal was over, the judge presented the cube in front of the camera, it was placed back in the bag and we started the ascent.

Thank you to the companies and people involved in the project!!!”

We congratulate the record holder, as well as the whole team supporting him in this extraordinary feat. We hope that this is not their last word and we will still have the opportunity to support them in their future endeavours!
