On Saturday, July 30, a search for a missing diver took place off the Hel naval port.
We received a message from one of our readers about a search operation that took place last Saturday. In the vicinity of the Hel naval port, seven vessels searched for a woman who lost contact with her partner during a dive.
At about 15:00 to the side of the vessel “Diver Hel”, which was conducting a training trip to the position ORP Wicher, a scuba diver arrived on a closed circuit. The man was not a participant in the expedition. He informed those present on the boat that about 25 minutes earlier, at the height of the spare entrance to the Hel war port, he had lost contact with his diving partner.
SAR and other emergency services were notifiedfrom the deck of the “Diver Hel”, and a search waslaunched at 15:05.
The basis for planning and carrying out the action was the dive information provided by the diver who asked for help. The dive route was from a small beach to ORP Wicher on closed circuits. The covered section of the coast abounds in fishing nets – reads the account of the search operation.
Fortunately, at 4:30 p.m., the “Diver Hel” unit received a message that the missing woman was safe. Swimming underwater, she arrived at a small beach in Hel, to the place where she started diving. Subsequently, teams of divers were taken up from the water to conduct a search. After the police unit confirmed the woman’s identity, the action was completed.
The entire operation lasted a total of one and a half hours. Seven emergency service units and several private boats and RIBs participated. In turn, fourteen divers took part in the underwater search.
Units dispatched to search near the Hel war port: CYKLON – SAR, Diver Hel – Hel Dive Base, Humber – Dive Land Hel, Formosa RIB, Police, Border Guard, Boomer – Pomorskie WOPR.
To those who participated in the search operation, we sincerely thank them for their selfless commitment. At the same time, we would like to inform you that the dive, during which the dive team was separated and which caused the action, took place from a small beach, without the participation of any dive centers – concluded the participants.
