Automatic is an essential piece of equipment for every diver. It provides us with the possibility of survival under water, therefore it should be selected appropriately to our needs and conditions in which it will be used. Basically, we divide scuba regulators into those adapted for use in warm, moderate and cold waters. Today, I am going to present you the equipment in which I had a chance to dive a lot, and which I consider to be very good.
The Scubapro MK25 first stage, is top of the range equipment. Years of experience of the company translates into quality, reliability and popularity of this equipment. The MK25 model is a representative of piston-controlled regulators, incorporating many design innovations in its solutions.
It has one of the highest air capacities and an extremely stable interstage pressure. This translates into consistently low breathing values and stress-free diving. The first stage of the MK25, is an automaton that can serve us for any type of diving in any conditions.
The MK25+A700, is a compilation that Scubapro is proud of and is meant to be the company’s calling card. That’s why, in addition to the new A700 II stage, the MK25 I stage has been refreshed and given some shine. In its new look, it is only available with the above mentioned II stage.
To seamlessly configure this set of automatics with the rest of our equipment, the MK25 has 5 LP ports, 2 HP ports and a swivel head. The distribution of the ports and the possibility to correct the position of the 1st stage, makes it no problem at all to place the hoses comfortably.
As the MK25 is a stage dedicated to cold water, its creators took care of special protection against freezing. And if there are problems with the mid-stage pressure, the service technician can adjust it for you, without having to disassemble the machine.
Now let’s devote some attention to the A700 II stage. This is Scubapro’s flagship product, on which the company’s engineers have spent a lot of time. In addition to its beautiful and compact appearance (small can, high-gloss chrome plated), high performance was also taken care of. It was of great importance to the company that the A700 should be an automatic for life. Regularly used and serviced, it is supposed to be unbreakable.
Its quality is influenced by the use of metal parts and the fact that it is made by hand. This represents a kind of return to the past, when all automatics were made of metal parts. However, unlike the rest, the A700 is small, sleek and, thanks to the use of modern materials, very light!
This second stage, however, not only looks great, but also performs similarly underwater. Scubapro has used all of its experience and technological capabilities to put its engineering achievements into this neat package.
Breathing, regardless of the conditions, is pleasant and natural. Resistance is minimal and as much air as we need goes into our lungs. Reducing the breathing effort, reduces the risk of stress, while increasing the safety and comfort of the diver. As breathing resistance is an individual issue, we have the possibility to intervene and adjust it. This is also to prevent the regulator from being triggered, e.g. when moving in a scooter or in the event of very strong currents. The entire system is managed by the VIVA system (Venturi Initiated Vacuum Assist).
This is complemented by a very comfortable mouthpiece that does not “tire” the jaw and does not have to be bitten down hard to stay in place.
The MK25 + A700 automaton set is a very successful product, which shows that it has been carefully designed and manufactured to occupy a leading position in modern standards. Both visually and technically, it is top of the range. What may discourage many people from buying this model is the price – 2500-2800 PLN. However, those who believe in the principle that quality is what you pay for can, with a clear conscience, make a purchase.
