On 1-4 April, enthusiasts of travels, photography and various sports such as climbing or diving will come to Rybnik from all over Poland. The aim – participation in “Caravan”, i.e. the part of extraordinary festival gathering travelers. As media patron of the event, we would like to invite you to take part in it, because both the festival’s schedule and the list of invited guests is quite impressive. All those who decide to come will be awaited by wonderful stories and accounts of expeditions, thanks to which for four days we will be transported to the most magical places in the world

Below is a partial list of invited speakers, the festival schedule and organisational details.

Anna Poduszyńska – painter, draughtswoman, educator. Major painting cycles: Elements, Protective Colours, Daughter of the Lake. Originator and co-organiser of the project Africa: Rhythms and rituals (2009-2010). Wild at Heart. African sculpture and the avant-garde in European art. Primitivism and its turns. Art workshops on bold line, raw stain, strong contrasts, mimeticism and deformation.

Elżbieta Wiejaczka – survived a 7560 km bicycle honeymoon along roads and wilderness of Africa, hitchhiking across Sahara, volunteering in Kenya… I lived with the Masai. For a few weeks, she lived in a hut made of acacia branches, lined with earth mixed with cow dung. She watched the women, participated in their daily life. www.afryka2x2.blogspot.com.

Bartek Sabela – architect, painter, photographer, snowboarder and climber. The book “Maybe (the sea) will come back”. – a novel about Uzbekistan and the disappearing Aral Sea, was awarded the Amber Butterfly and the Magellan Prize. She cooperates with the “Kontynenty” magazine. The book “All grains of sand” is the fruit of four journeys to the Western Sahara – the last African colony, the largest prison of the world.

Arkadiusz Pałasiński – artist photographer, traveller, organiser and leader of workshops in travel, landscape and mountain photography. Fascinated by black and white photography. In search of subjects for his projects, he travels around the world. In Search of Silence is the first exhibition in the series Shades of Europe. www.palasinski.pl

Piotr Strzeżysz – has been cycling as long as he can remember. He has been to many places in the world, but still something pushes him somewhere. He likes space and wind. He is the author of several books: “Powidoki”, “Campa w sakwach”, “Pasta w sakwach”. Winner of KOLOS 2014 in the travel category. By bike from Alaska to Patagonia. The route from Alaska to Patagonia was attempted three times. The third journey ended happily. www.onthebikle.pl

Krzysztof Nowakowski – dreamer, athlete, musher, adventurer. He travels by organising expeditions to polar regions and competing in the longest sled dog races in Europe. In 2010. covered 300 km with his wife in three days. Author of the book “23 km. By dog sled through life – we are human and dog at the same time. We are one, a pack in which everyone is indispensable. This is a very primal feeling. www.syberiada-adventure.com

Piotr Kuźniar – the yacht “Selma Expeditions”, commanded by him, in 2015 set a sailing and nautical record “Furthest South” by reaching the southern shore of the Antarctic Ross Sea. The crew also conquered Mount Erebus (3794 m) – the only active volcano in Antarctica. Selma – Antarctica – Ross Sea – 80 days without contact with civilisation and sailing along the ice barrier in stormy icy winds. www.SelmaExpeditions.com

Małgorzata Zdziechowska – journalist, traveller, blogger. For many years, out of love for animals and a desire to help them, she has travelled the world to work as a volunteer in orphanages and rehabilitation centres for wild animals. Gośka among wild animals – she has worked with over 60 types of mammals. She is called the Polish Doctor Dolittle. Bartosz Stróżyński – underwater photographer, nature photographer, composer, songwriter, producer of music videos and multimedia projects. Author of the book entitled. Author of the book “AntArctic. Underwater enchantment”. Fascinated by the Arctic and Antarctic. He specialises in winter photography, photography of aquatic mammals, underwater photography of crocodiles and underwater photography of rivers. Working in icy water – it’s not easy. www.fimufo.com

Face to face

Joanna Lipowczan and Bartosz Malinowski – Asia – from Cieszyn, raised in the Beskids, Bartek – a nomad, traveller, mountain guide. Within 120 days, they were the first Poles to walk the 1,700-kilometre Great Himalayan Trail, one of the most difficult and highest mountain trails in the world, without the support of porters, cooks and guides.

Leszek Cichy – mountaineer, alpinist, legendary figure in Polish Himalayan mountaineering. Participant of many expeditions to the Tatras, Alps, Himalayas and Karakorum. On 17th February 1980, together with Krzysztof Wielicki, he made the first winter ascent of Mount Everest (8848 m). From Mount Everest in winter to Kilimanjaro, he is the first Pole to complete the so-called “Crown of the Earth” – the highest peaks of all the continents.
