Pole swims across the Baltic Sea! – video

Sebastian Karaś has become the first man to swim across the Baltic Sea! The Polish swimmer set off on 28 August after 7 p.m. from the beach in Kołobrzeg, to reach the Bornholm shore after more than a day.

Our compatriot entered the water at 7.09 pm in Kołobrzeg, near the local lighthouse. After an exhausting 28 hours and 30 minutes, he reached his destination – the shore of Bornholm Island. Thus, he became the first man who succeeded in this feat.

[blockquote style=”2″]”As we said goodbye to him on the beach yesterday, we knew we would welcome him here. We have had a huge success. He handled the whole endeavour very well, the process of swimming through with quite unstable dead waves.” – said Marcin Przeworski of the Karaś Team for TVN24[/blockquote].

It was not only the waves and fatigue that posed a threat during the 100km-plus route, but also the low water temperature.

[blockquote style=”2″]”When he was already very close to the Danish shore, some 5-6 km, fatigue got to him. However, he did not give up. We are very happy that he managed to cross the Baltic Sea as the first man in the world,” said Antoni Rokicki. – said Antoni Rokicki[/blockquote].

The Pole swam the Baltic Sea alone, but was assisted by a team on a boat the whole time. The swimmer, however, had no contact with anyone and could not board the boat. The team only watched to see if everything was going according to plan, but as they say in a conversation with the media, they were sure Sebastian could afford this success.

Sebastian Karaś is 26 years old and is the Polish swimming champion. He already has other interesting feats to his credit, such as the one from 2015, when he swam 41 km in the English Channel in 8 hours and 48 minutes.
