Progressive miniaturisation is not bypassing anything. According to some, this is a good thing, others say not so much. Well, this is not for us to discuss. But we decided to present you the effect of ubiquitous miniaturisation! It is a mask with a camera – Liquid Image Scuba Series Wide Angle.
Liquid Image’s new model for divers, features a wide-angle lens capable of recording up to 30 frames per second in 720p HD. Inside, we find a 1/3.2″ 5.0 Mega Pixel sensor. This means that photos can be taken at a maximum resolution of 2592×1944 pixels and videos at 1280×720 pixels.
Internal flash memory in the strength of 64MB will not allow us to do much, but using the SD cards, we can expand it to 32GB, which gives us about 16h of video recording. The whole is powered by 4 AAA batteries (so called small fingers), which, according to the manufacturer, should allow us to take 2000 pictures or record 2h video.
Operation, as the creators assure, is trivial. Comfortable, large buttons and fully automated functions are supposed to make using the camera as easy as possible. On the glasses, made of tempered glass, “viewfinders” are placed, thanks to which it will be easier to catch the right shots. Additionally, a place for installing side lighting has been provided.
Data transfer is via a standard USB cable which is included, as is a CD with software to edit our recordings and photos. The device works with both PC and Mac computers.
The product is designed for snoorklers and recreational divers and these are the limits of water tightness. The maximum depth to which the mask is dedicated is 40m, which coincides with the limits of recreational training.
