Kaliningrad: We know where the monument to the giant catfish attacking divers will be erected

We now know where a monument will be erected in Kaliningrad to commemorate a giant catfish that attacked divers working in the waters of the Pregel River. The fish became famous a year ago when it defended its habitat from divers repairing a bridge.

The city authorities have determined the place where a monument to the catfish, which disturbed divers during repairs to the High Bridge, will be set up. According to the head of the city administration’s architecture and construction department – Artur Krupin, it will be placed on the main promenade of the Pregel waterfront, right next to the repaired bridge.

[blockquote style=”2″]”Initially we wanted to put the monument on the High Bridge itself, but it will be better to put it on the waterfront, where everyone will be able to come up to it and touch it”, – said Artur Krupin.[/blockquote]

Recall that at the beginning of work on the reconstruction of the High Bridge, The divers reportedthat underwater they encountered a giant catfish weighing over 200 kilograms, which drove them away from their work site.

Last week, Kaliningrad residents were offered the opportunity to take part in a competition to create an image of a sculpture. Only children under the age of 18 can take part in the competition. Hopefully, the sculpture will be life-size.
