On their homepage, closed circuit manufacturer JJ-CCR DiveCAN has announced that after long and arduous procedures their equipment has received CE EN14143:2013 certification. This is certainly a big step forward, especially when it comes to selling these devices in Europe.
“It has been a long journey, but today we are pleased to announce that our rebreather has been CE certified. We are very proud to be one of the first, if not the first, to manufacture rebreathers in accordance with the latest EN14143:2013″ – we can read on the manufacturer’s website
What will having the aforementioned certificate actually change? It turns out that quite a lot. First of all, it shows that the Danish company recognises the enormous potential and dynamic development of the European CCR market and the changes taking place there.
The certification process itself is not cheap and is not done overnight. This shows that in Denmark the final bill was estimated to be worthwhile and the whole thing was treated as an investment and the next step in brand development.
Only now will all instructors and rebels of the brand be able to catch their breath and spread their wings. The manufacturer itself has not forgotten about this and thanks all its sales partners and individual customers for their patience and support.
Another issue is that for several years the number of closed circuits has been growing at a tremendous rate and today we are already talking about mass interest and trade in rebreathers and related training. After successful certification of JJ-CCR devices, they will be easily available in the offer of shops and diving centres, according to the requirements of trade law in our country.
Another door which opens the key in the form of CE certification is public procurement for various types of services, the military and special units. Anyone who has dealt with this type of trade knows that CE certification is the main requirement included in the tender specifications. Although more and more CCR units are European-certified, there is still little competition in this field, but the potential profits make the game worthwhile.
As far as the device itself is concerned, this certification changes absolutely nothing. However, it will make the offer available on the market richer, which is always a plus. Certainly, the new situation will also make life easier for instructors and JJ-CCR users, as it changes legal issues quite considerably, as well as possible liability in case of even the smallest accidents.
For owners of JJ-CCR machines, new material awaits in the download section of the manufacturer’s website, in the form of a manual, price list and the CE certificate itself.
