Ice diving season has started!

Yes, yes my dear friends, for many of you in Poland last weekend turned out to be the first act of ice madness, which we almost missed. Luckily, winter, even though it’s long overdue, has been solidly biting lakes, ponds and all other bodies of water frequented by Polish divers.

Appetites for jumping into the ice hole have been whetted, especially after the phenomenal videos presented in our pages, which were supposed to be a minimal substitute for what an ice diver feels like. The seasoned ones are already checking their equipment and filling in the gaps. Ice screws, reels, spools, lines and everything else necessary is already packed to go before each weekend.

For “freshmen” in the subject, diving centres and clubs all over Poland organise ice diving trainings. Remember not to try your hand at this type of diving without learning it first! Impressions under the ice are amazing, visibility is wonderful, however every emergency situation is doubly dangerous and you should be well prepared how to proceed in case of problems. Proper procedures are the basis for a quick response.

If you feel like sharing your impressions from this year’s ice dives, we encourage you to send us photos (along with a description of who, where, when and what conditions) from your trips. We will create a joint gallery, which will be available on our website!

We look forward to your emails at redakcja@divers24.pl and wish you an amazing experience in a shortened but hopefully very successful ice fishing season!
