Although Sunday morning was very foggy and unpleasant, at 10.00 am, on the shore of the reservoir, 26 divers registered, willing to participate in the underwater cleaning. After a speech by Mira Stanislawska-Meysztowicz, founder of the Our Earth Foundation, and a short briefing for the divers, led by Kamil Jaczyński of GEPN, the participants of the action began.

While the divers were preparing the equipment and starting to dive, more and more people were registering to take part in the clean-up action on the surface. It’s worth mentioning that they were mainly young people – such as the boys from one of Wola’s secondary schools, who, accompanied by their teacher, came especially to take part in the Clean Up the World event. Their enthusiastic approach to the task proved to be a great help, especially when it came to transporting the heaviest and biggest underwater finds.

The diving conditions were, to put it mildly, uncomfortable. It was shallow (max. 3.5 metres) and dark, as visibility ranged from zero to seventy centimetres at the bottom in the deepest parts of the basin.

Among the treasures found at the bottom, the most interesting were a propeller, a large model of a wooden motorboat with an electric drive, several vinyl records, a metal money box, a huge metal kettle and several large tyres. In addition, traditionally, the divers fished out a great deal of glass bottles and other food packaging.

While underwater cleaning was going on on the surface you could take part in ecological quizzes and other attractions prepared by the Our Earth Foundation.

During participant registration each diver received a coupon for free air in Decathlon Targówek and a towel from Lotto. At the end of the Clean Up the World action there was a tombola in which each participant received a gift from the sponsors.

Among the prizes were cups, kites and games from Lotto, air vouchers sponsored by Diveproject and Rat Diving Center, 360observe diving mirrors, MolaMola caps and vouchers to MartJack Extreme Sports Center. The most exciting part of the raffle was the most expensive item in the lottery – a ZEOS wing sponsored by Xdeep.

Thank you to all the sponsors for supporting our initiative! Special thanks to all those who took part in the action both under and by the water! Thanks to you, we once again did something good for our favourite water environment!
